Since 1990, when we accepted delivery of Rescue 2, one of the duties it has served was to carry the squad's dive gear. Webster Lake is the largest natural body of water in the state of Massachusetts. To properly be prepared, we continually strive to purchase the best SCUBA gear available. This makes our operation more efficient and saves valuable time at an emergency.

For the past several years, our dive equipment has outgrown the space available in Rescue 2. This was compounded by some of the gear getting ruined. In the beginning of 2002, the members decided that they would search for a new vehicle as a dive truck. We knew that if the town was going to fund our new "special operations" truck, we would have to buy this vehicle and refurb it on our own. In April of 2002, the members purchased a used tool truck for $3,000.00 (no cost to the town). The truck was perfect, it had a 4kw generator, 120 volt air conditioner, and a propane furnace for heat as well as plenty of room for shelves, equipment and personnel. The town voted to accept the truck, thus providing insurance and registering it.

The rest of the project was funded through donations and purchases from our fundraising activities.

The photos below show the Dive Truck in its various stages of conversion.
