Train Derailment, Main St. - 12/21/00 On Dec. 21, 2000 at 0329 hours, there was a train derailment on the tracks just north of Main St. The train had 3 engines and was pulling 24 cars. Some of the cars and cargo were dragged across Main St. and then derailed. Eleven cars in all derailed. Webster Control dispatched the Webster Police Dept., a still alarm assignment from the Fire Dept. and Webster Rescue 1 (heavy rescue) and Webster Rescue 3 (haz-mat) to the scene. Other responding agencies included the Webster DPW , and Providence & Worcester Railroad.
